Weekly Objectives w/c 25.03.19

Literacy

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to annotate a poem for meaning
  • to explore the meaning of figurative language
  • to develop the use of figurative language in written work

Maths

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to secure knowledge of factors and multiples
  • to secure knowledge of prime number and prime factors
  • to plot co-ordinates in two quadrants

Year 6 Weekly Objectives w/c 25.03.19

Literacy

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:

  • How to edit/improve our balanced arguments from last week, focusing on the key grammatical structure and language features
  • The structure and language features of a diary entry
  • How to effectively portray a character's thoughts and feelings through a diary entry

Maths

In Year 6 this week, we will be revising:

  • Fractions, Decimals and Percentages; this includes: writing fractions as mixed numbers and improper fractions (and converting between the two); comparing and ordering fractions; adding and subtracting fractions; multiplying and dividing fractions; FDP equivalents

    In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
    • to understand the role of highwaymen
    • to produce visual images from language use
    • to explore how writers produce dramatic effects 

    Maths

    In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
    • what percentage means and to write percentages as fractions
    • to write percentages as decimals
    • to find percentages of amounts

    • to maintain character consistency in writing
    • to self-assess through editing

    In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
    • to add and subtract decimals (with up to 3 decimal places)
    • to multiply and divide by powers of 10 (up to 3 decimal places)
    • round decimals (with up to 3 decimal places)
