Year 6 Weekly Objectives w/c 14.09

 

Literacy

In Year 6 this week, we will be:
  • Identifying the features of a character description
  • Identifying and researching language for a character description
  • Using character descriptions to develop an understanding of personality
  • Applying descriptive language to a given character
  • Have an opportunity for independent writing. 

Maths

In Year 6 this week, we will be:
  • Assessing for progression
  • Adding numbers with up to 4 digits, using the formal column method
  • Subtracting numbers with up to 4 digits, using the formal column method
  • Using the inverse operation to check answers and solve missing number problems

    Year 5 Weekly Objectives W/C 07.09.2020

     

    Literacy

    In Year 5 this week, we will be revising:
    • The function of word classes;
    • Types of conjunctions;
    • How and when to use fronted adverbials;
    • Using relative clauses effectively; and
    • Have an opportunity for independent writing. 

    Maths

    In Year 5 this week, we will be revising:
    • Reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers up to 10,000;
    • Partitioning numbers up to 10,000;
    • Roman Numerals up to 100;
    • Comparing and ordering negative numbers; and
    • Rounding numbers to the nearest 100 and 1000.

      Literacy

      In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:

      • To recognise and use informal language in letter writing
      • To empathise with a character and add details about emotions
      • To write an informal letter 

      Maths

      In Year 6 this week, we will be revising:
      • read, write, order and compare numbers up to 10 000 000 and determine the value of each digit
      • round any whole number to a required degree of accuracy
      • use negative numbers in context, and calculate intervals across 0
      • solve number and practical problems involving place value

        • to use paragraphs to develop ideas 
        • to use colons and semi-colons to punctuate a text

        In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
        • to using to plot co-ordinates in two quadrants
        • to translate shapes in multiple quadrants

        • How to apply our skills of year six writing to produce a setting description of Narnia
        • How to write a character description of a character from Narnia

        Maths

        In Year 6 this week, we will be revising:
        • Different units of measure including: conversion between units; calculating with measures; perimeter; area and volume

          In Year 6 this week, we will be revising:

          • Fractions, Decimals and Percentages; this includes: writing fractions as mixed numbers and improper fractions (and converting between the two); comparing and ordering fractions; adding and subtracting fractions; multiplying and dividing fractions; FDP equivalents
