Year 6 Objectives W/C 11/09/17

Literacy

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To use FANTASTICs in our writing;
  • To write expanded noun phrases; and
  • To use SEAT to characterise speech.

Mathematics

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To read and write numbers up to 10,000,000; 
  • To use place value when solving mental calculations; and 
  • To us the column method when adding numbers with up to 6 digits.

Year 5 Objectives W/C - 04/09/2017

Literacy

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • Recognising the features of a diary 
  • Write a diary entry using correct features 
  • Comparison of character descriptions in War Horse 

Maths

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • Multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1,000 
  • Addition and subtraction of money 
  • Ordering decimal places on a number line

Welcome Year 6 2017/18

Welcome Year 6!

We hope that you have all had an enjoyable summer and are ready for a very busy final year at Hacton.

In Year 6 this week, we will be
  • Getting to know each other;
  • Settling into new routines;
  • Thinking about rights and responsibilities;
  • Setting ourselves goals for the year; and
  • Starting our history, art and music topics.
We'll see you all bright and early in the morning. Remember that now you are in Year 6, you will be entering using the Year 4 and 6 door. Please check the website for the new access arrangements so that you know which gates to use.


Year 5 Objectives W/C - 04/09/2017

Literacy

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • Introduce War Horse by Michael Morpurgo 
  • Make predictions about the book 

Maths

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • Place value in 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers 
  • Comparing numbers 
  • Column method addition

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To design a home appliance with a unique selling point;
  • To use persuasive vocabulary; and
  • To write an advert.

Mathematics

In Year 6 this week, Mrs Mears' set will be learning:
  • To collect data; 
  • To draw a pie chart; and
  • To use a compass to draw circles.
Mrs Mason's and Mrs Leslie's set will be learning:
  • To use and apply my understanding of Maths to solve problems; and
  • To use a compass to draw circles.

Year 6 Weekly Objectives W/C 08/05/2017

It's here!

This week in Year 6 we will be completing our SATs tests.

This is an opportunity for you to show off all that you have learnt during your time at Hacton. All we can ask is that you try your best and remember to 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.

Don't forget to have a good sleep each night and a hearty breakfast before coming into school.
You must be in school on time each morning.

Wednesday 10th May 2017

Depending on the weather, we will be going to Hacton Park on the morning of Friday 12th May 2017.
Please ensure that you have full PE kit in school as if you do not, you will not be allowed to use all of the equipment available.

Year 6 Weekly Objectives W/C 01/05/2017

One more week to go...

This week in Year 6 we will be carrying out a final mock SATs week. Children will be completing tests each day under the same conditions as they will next week (week commencing Monday 8th May 2017).

As this is the final week before your SATs, make the most of the resources that are available to you at home and at school, for example, My Maths and your CGP revision guides. Don't forget that we are all here should you need to go over any areas of learning that you are worried about.
