Year 6 Objectives W/C 09/10/2017

Literacy

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To use suspense conventions to write a short suspense story;
  • To use relative clauses; and
  • To create atmosphere in our writing using figurative language.

Mathematics

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To use standard written methods for division; and
  • To use and apply our understanding of number to solve problems.

  • To write a diary using elements of the FANTASTICs.

  • To order numbers with up to three decimal places; 
  • To multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000; and 
  • To place decimal numbers on a number line accurately.

  • To use place value when solving mental calculations; and 
  • To us the column method when adding numbers with up to 6 digits.

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • Recognising the features of a diary

  • Multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1,000 
  • Addition and subtraction of money 
  • Ordering decimal places on a number line

Welcome Year 6 2017/18

Welcome Year 6!

We hope that you have all had an enjoyable summer and are ready for a very busy final year at Hacton.

In Year 6 this week, we will be
  • Getting to know each other;
  • Settling into new routines;
  • Thinking about rights and responsibilities;
  • Setting ourselves goals for the year; and
  • Starting our history, art and music topics.
We'll see you all bright and early in the morning. Remember that now you are in Year 6, you will be entering using the Year 4 and 6 door. Please check the website for the new access arrangements so that you know which gates to use.
