Weekly Objectives w/c 25.03.19

Literacy

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to annotate a poem for meaning
  • to explore the meaning of figurative language
  • to develop the use of figurative language in written work

Maths

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to secure knowledge of factors and multiples
  • to secure knowledge of prime number and prime factors
  • to plot co-ordinates in two quadrants

Literacy

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to use modal verbs
  • to understand spelling rules and the anomalies of plurals
  • about Jules Verne's writing techniques

Maths

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to convert between different units of measurements
  • how to use timetables and solve timetable problems
  • to use the conversion of measurements to solve multi-step word problems

Literacy

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to recognise the roles of heroes and heroines in Greek myths
  • to create a mythical hero
  • to create a mythical creature

Maths

In Year 5 this week, we will be learning:
  • to use mental strategies to solve multiplication and division problems
  • to solve multiplication and division word problems, using mental strategies
  • to plot co-ordinates on a 4 quadrant grid

Year 6 Objectives W/C 09/10/2017

Literacy

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To use suspense conventions to write a short suspense story;
  • To use relative clauses; and
  • To create atmosphere in our writing using figurative language.

Mathematics

In Year 6 this week, we will be learning:
  • To use standard written methods for division; and
  • To use and apply our understanding of number to solve problems.

Defence Against the Dark Arts

In Year 5 at Hogwarts this week, we will be learning:
  • To create our own wands
  • To be able to create a blackout poem using Harry Potter text
  • To be able to use disarming figuarative language to describe a scene from Harry Potter

Potions

In Year 5 at Hogwarts this week, we will be learning:
  • To create potions using mathematical problem solving skills
  • To solve problems including units of measure
  • To create potions using mixed fractions

  • to identify prime numbers up to 100
  • to plot co-ordinates on different quadrants

  • Finding the perimeter of composite rectilinear shapes
  • Finding the area of composite rectilinear shapes
  • To find the volume of 3D shapes

Year 5's Shopping Spree

Year 5 hit the sales as Mrs Standen's Jumble opened in 5SB today.  Children went wild with £10, £20 and even £50 notes and improved their change giving skills as they bought and sold Mrs S's most treasured possessions.
